Welcome Parents!
High school parents, if I had one guess as to why you are here, it would be….COLLEGE. The confusing (and often convoluted) process by which your student gets into a great school and (hopefully) saves some money doing it, should be easier. Tragically, I can’t change the system, but I can arm you with the best information I have so you and your student can better navigate the waters. My suggestion is to start by insuring that you are knowledgeable about the following topics:
High School Testing Calendar
Need to know when the test dates and registration deadlines are for the SAT, ACT, or AP Tests? See the calendar and download it to your device!
The College Application Timeline
Unsure about what this whole process looks like? Check out this quick reference graphic.
Tests, Testing, and Course Types
Want to know what all those tests and class options are? Check out this post.
The College Search
Thinking about starting the college search? Follow these tips.
And my number one recommendation to you as you begin this process is to develop a relationship with your student’s guidance counselor. Check out my tips here. I realize that this process may feel overwhelming, but UncommonGrad.com is here to help you and your student not only survive, but thrive throughout high school, college applications, and beyond. Good luck!
